Local search is the most winnable kind of SEO. You are not competing with the entire internet — only with other businesses serving the same area. Most of them have not done the basics, which means the basics are usually enough.
Start with your Google Business Profile
For a local business this matters more than your website. It is what fills the map results, and it is free.
- Claim and verify the profile if you have not already
- Pick the most specific primary category available, not a general one
- Add real photos of your premises, team and work — not stock images
- Keep opening hours accurate, including holidays
- Reply to every review, including the negative ones
Get your details consistent everywhere
Your business name, address and phone number should be written identically everywhere they appear online — your site, directories, social profiles and listings. Search engines use that consistency to confirm you are a real, single business. Mismatched entries quietly undermine you.
Fix the website side
- Put your city in page titles where it reads naturally
- Show your full address and phone number on every page, usually in the footer
- Add LocalBusiness structured data so search engines can read your details
- Create a separate page for each service, rather than one page listing all of them
- If you serve several areas, give each a genuine page — not the same text with the city swapped
Then ask for reviews
Reviews influence both ranking and whether someone actually calls you. The most reliable way to get them is to ask, in person, right after you have done good work — with a direct link that takes two taps to use.
None of this is complicated. It is just rarely done consistently, which is exactly why it still works.
